Mr Michael Williams

Michael Williams is an addition counsellor bringing both personal experience and professional expertise to his role at Abbington House. Having faced addiction himself for over a decade, Michael truly understands the challenges that clients encounter. His own recovery journey began in 2011 after years of substance misuse and incarceration. Today, he is dedicated to using his story to inspire others and support them through the most difficult stages of their recovery.

Michael believes that effective addiction treatment goes beyond simply stopping the use of substances. It requires understanding the underlying causes of pain and addressing them comprehensively. At Abbington House, he focuses on a holistic approach, which prioritises mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing while fostering strong family support. Michael’s commitment to ensuring that every client feels seen, heard, and valued is a key part of his practice, as he recognises the importance of compassion in achieving long-term recovery.

Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Addiction Counselling and a Master’s degree in Addiction Psychology. He is board certified in addiction treatment, trauma-informed care, and 12-step facilitation. With 12 years of practice, he has developed a deep understanding of the complexities of addiction and the most effective ways to support those in recovery. He works at Abbington House, located in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, where he is dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment for clients.
