About Mr Michael Mikhail

Mr Michael Mikhail is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Clinical Lead for Urology at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he has worked since April 2020.

He studied medicine at University College London Medical School, qualifying in 2008. Following foundation and basic surgical training in London, he completed higher specialist training in urology within the University Hospital of Wales and later on the Imperial College London (North West London) training rotation, including posts at Charing Cross Hospital and other major West London centres. He further specialised through sub-specialty training in complex stone surgery at University College London Hospital.

To advance his expertise, he undertook a competitive fellowship in stone disease and uro-oncology in Perth, Western Australia.

Clinically, Mr Mikhail manages a broad range of urological conditions including benign prostatic enlargement (BPE), urinary tract infections, and haematuria investigation. He has a particular focus on BPE treatments such as Aquablation therapy, as well as advanced prostate cancer diagnostics using multiparametric MRI, transperineal biopsy, and MRI-ultrasound fusion techniques.

He also runs a comprehensive kidney stone service offering treatments such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy, and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for complex stone disease.

Mr Mikhail is involved in prostate cancer research, contributing to national trials and presenting at scientific meetings, and plays a key role in surgical education, supervising urology trainees and contributing to national training programmes and courses.
