Mr Michael Harris

Dr. Michael Harris is a Consultant Psychiatrist at the North West Sussex and East Surrey Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service. He completed his core psychiatry training in London through the University College London training scheme and obtained membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2012. Following this, he undertook higher training in Brighton, including a year-long placement at the Islington Specialist Alcohol Treatment Service and the Camden and Islington Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Service.

Dr. Harris was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training in 2015. He subsequently joined Millview Hospital in Hove as a consultant psychiatrist, where he held overall clinical responsibility for a rolling caseload of 20 in-patients. In this role, he also provided professional supervision to junior medical staff, ensuring alignment between service needs and ongoing clinical training.

In addition to a small private practice, Dr. Harris currently works as a perinatal psychiatrist for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, providing care for pregnant and post-natal mothers across North West Sussex.

His clinical interests include the management of depression and anxiety, treatment-resistant conditions, personality disorders, alcohol dependence, perinatal psychiatry, and integrative approaches. He has experience with psychodynamic formulation, dialectical behaviour therapy, and neuromodulation, applying these methods to support complex psychiatric presentations.
