Dr Mehtan Ahmed

Dr Mehtan Ahmed is a highly skilled Consultant Gastroenterologist and Lead Endoscopist who is dedicated to providing exceptional, patient-centred care. He specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, combining technical precision with a reassuring approach to ensure patient comfort. Throughout his clinical practice, Dr Ahmed has focused on delivering high-quality outcomes that consistently exceed national standards in procedure times, completion rates, and patient comfort.

With a strong clinical interest in advanced endoscopic techniques, Dr Ahmed is highly experienced in performing colonoscopies, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and oesophagogastroduodenoscopies. He is particularly skilled in water-assisted colonoscopy, a gentler technique designed to significantly enhance patient comfort during the examination. His expertise also extends to therapeutic interventions such as polypectomies, and he is actively involved in training and developing Junior Endoscopists and clinical staff.

Dr Ahmed completed his medical education at Imperial College London, graduating in 2010 with distinctions in Medicine and Surgery, alongside a first-class honours Bachelor of Science in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He undertook his postgraduate specialist training within the North Central and North West London deaneries, which included gaining valuable early experience at the prestigious Wolfson Unit for Endoscopy. He achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and General Internal Medicine in 2019. Dr Ahmed holds dual accreditation in General Medicine and Gastroenterology and is an active member of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
