Dr Matthew Jones

Dr Matthew Jones is an esteemed Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist and Consultant Adult Congenital Cardiologist with extensive expertise in caring for infants, children, and adults with structural heart conditions. Specialising in interventional cardiology, Dr Jones focuses on evaluating and managing congenital heart disease using advanced, minimally invasive techniques. His clinical practice is centred on delivering compassionate, reassuring, and highly skilled care tailored to the individual needs of paediatric patients and their families.

With specialist expertise in keyhole and transcatheter cardiac interventions, Dr Jones performs a comprehensive range of structural heart treatments. These include valve balloon therapies, transcatheter closure of atrial septal defects (ASDs), ventricular septal defects (VSDs), and patent ductus arteriosus (PDAs). Additionally, he specialises in complex transcatheter valve implantations, including pulmonary and tricuspid valve implants, as well as the non-surgical correction of sinus venosus defects and anomalous pulmonary venous drainage.

Dr Jones completed his medical degree (MBBS) at King's College London in 2004. He attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2008. He completed postgraduate training in adult cardiology across Wales and London, followed by higher sub-specialty fellowship training in paediatric cardiology at leading tertiary centres in London and Sydney, Australia. Dr Jones maintains active professional membership with the Royal College of Physicians.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Jones holds leadership responsibilities as a Clinical Lead for congenital intervention services. He maintains an active research interest in novel transcatheter pulmonary valve therapies and innovative interventional techniques for congenital heart disease. Dr Jones remains dedicated to advancing cardiac care standards and offering families clear guidance throughout diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing follow-up.
