Dr Matthew Jones

Dr Matthew Jones is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in conditions affecting the hand and wrist. Dedicated to delivering patient-centred, reassuring care, Dr Jones provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment and evidence-based treatments tailored to each individual's needs. His clinical practice focuses on restoring upper limb function, relieving pain, and helping patients comfortably return to their daily routines and activities.

Dr Jones graduated with Honours from the University of Sheffield Medical School in 2003, achieving a distinction in his final examinations. He completed his core surgical training and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006, before undergoing higher orthopaedic training to earn his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2012. He further advanced his clinical expertise through specialist hand surgery fellowships, including a prestigious travelling fellowship to leading international centres in the United States. In addition, Dr Jones holds a Diploma in Hand Surgery and maintains active professional memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.

His areas of expertise encompass nerve compression syndromes, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome, alongside common conditions like trigger finger, Dupuytren's disease, and de Quervain's tenosynovitis. He also provides specialist care for hand and wrist arthritis, soft tissue ganglion cysts, ligament tears requiring reconstruction, and complex upper limb fractures.

Beyond his clinical duties, Dr Jones is actively involved in medical education, surgical training, and professional leadership. He serves as an Examiner and Tutor for post-graduate hand surgery qualifications, acts as an Educational Supervisor for junior doctors, and contributes as a medical school Demonstrator.
