Dr. Malcolm Farquharson

Dr. Malcolm Farquharson is a highly dedicated Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist who provides patient-centred care across the full spectrum of women's health. He adopts a compassionate, evidence-based approach to diagnosis and treatment, ensuring each individual feels fully supported and listened to throughout their care. Working alongside skilled multidisciplinary teams, he delivers comprehensive clinical care tailored to every patient's unique needs.

Dr. Farquharson completed his undergraduate medical degree (MBChB) at Glasgow University in 2008. He went on to undertake specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, as well as sub-specialist training in Gynaecological Oncology. Demonstrating a deep commitment to clinical research and academic advancement, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cancer Sciences from the University of Glasgow for his research focused on ovarian cancer therapies. He holds professional memberships with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS Ed), and the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP).

In his surgical and clinical practice, Dr. Farquharson specialises in both minimal access and complex open operations. As a trained Robotic Surgeon and experienced laparoscopic practitioner, he regularly performs keyhole procedures, including robotic hysterectomy, laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, removal of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis, and surgical management of chronic pelvic pain. Furthermore, as an accredited Colposcopist, he provides cervical screening, management of HPV, and colposcopic treatments for pre-invasive cervical conditions. He also evaluates general gynaecological issues, such as heavy menstrual bleeding, intermenstrual bleeding, and postmenopausal bleeding.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Farquharson plays an active role in medical education and clinical audit. He regularly publishes scientific research in peer-reviewed medical journals and leads multidisciplinary oncology meetings to maintain the highest standard of patient safety and care. His objective is to provide reassuring, transparent guidance, empowering patients to make informed decisions regarding their treatment options.
