Dr. Sapna Maheshwari

Dr. Sapna Maheshwari is a Senior Consultant Gynaecologist at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert, with over 25 years of experience in women’s health. She provides specialist care in menopause, heavy menstrual bleeding, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and pelvic pain.

Dr. Maheshwari earned her MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Bhopal University, India, in 1997 and subsequently completed further specialist training in the East of Scotland, gaining accreditation in gynaecology. She has a particular interest in outpatient gynaecology, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for abnormal bleeding, including hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, polyp removal, coil insertion, and endometrial ablation. She also provides hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and manages conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids.

As Lead Clinician for Menopause and Fertility services at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Dr. Maheshwari is actively involved in teaching and raising awareness of menopause and HRT. She prioritises patient-centred care, ensuring patients are well-informed and involved in treatment decisions, with consideration of their values and preferences.

Her clinical expertise includes menopause and HRT, pelvic ultrasound, PCOS, period problems, investigation and treatment of abnormal bleeding, postmenopausal bleeding, hysteroscopy and biopsy, endometrial ablation, coil fitting, cervical smears, pelvic pain, medical management of endometriosis and fibroids, general gynaecology, and adolescent menstrual issues.
