Dr Lorraine McGrory

Dr Lorraine McGrory is an experienced Consultant Neonatologist and Paediatrician who provides expert, reassuring care for newborn infants and young children. Specialising in the assessment and management of high-risk neonates, she works collaboratively within multidisciplinary medical teams to deliver individualised, family-centred care. Dr McGrory is dedicated to ensuring that both infants and their families receive compassionate support and clear guidance during periods of complex medical treatment.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of neonatal and paediatric care, with a strong focus on preterm infants and critically ill babies needing intensive care support. As a Lead Consultant in neonatal medicine, her clinical interests include advanced respiratory support, neonatal resuscitation, temperature management for vulnerable newborns, and effective pain relief strategies. Dr McGrory is actively involved in clinical quality improvement initiatives and discharge planning to facilitate safe transitions from specialised hospital care to the home environment.

Dr McGrory completed her medical degree (MB) at the University of Dundee, where she also pursued clinical research within the Department of Child Health. She has contributed to published clinical research focused on improving neonatal procedural techniques, such as videolaryngoscopy for intubation training, thermal stabilisation during infant transport, and pain management in neonatal care settings. Through her ongoing dedication to evidence-based practice and professional development, Dr McGrory maintains high standards of clinical excellence in paediatric and neonatal care.
