About Miss Lizzie Bean
Miss Lizzie Bean is a Consultant Gynaecologist practising privately at Spire Hartswood Hospital and The Gynaecology Ultrasound centre. She is a full time NHS consultant at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
She has worked in obstetrics and gynaecology in the North Central East London region since 2012 and completed her specialty training in 2024. She undertook a three-year clinical research fellowship at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, gaining expertise in advanced gynaecological ultrasound as the endometriosis clinical research fellow. She went on to complete a subspecialty fellowship in advanced minimal access surgery and was awarded a PhD for her research on the natural history of endometriosis. She was employed as a consultant gynaecologist at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust from April 2024 to June 2026, where she lead the one-stop endometriosis pathway, the one-stop benign gynaecology pathway, and was part of the BSGE-accredited endometriosis service. She is now part of the complex endometriosis service in Oxford.
Her clinical practice focuses on advanced gynaecological ultrasound and minimal access surgery. She offers a holistic approach, supporting patients to choose between expectant, conservative and surgical management. She provides pelvic ultrasound for a range of conditions, including endometrial polyps, fibroids, ovarian cysts, fallopian tube and Müllerian tract abnormalities, adenomyosis, and early pregnancy complications. She has particular expertise in ultrasound mapping of pelvic endometriosis, including bowel and urinary tract involvement.
Miss Bean performs a wide range of gynaecological procedures, including hysteroscopic surgery, ultrasound-guided management of miscarriage, and laparoscopic procedures such as hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, sterilisation, treatment of endometriosis and cervical cerclage.
She is a senior council member of the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) and chairs its diagnostics portfolio. She co-organises national courses, contributes to national diagnostic initiatives, speaks regularly at conferences, and publishes research in high-impact journals.

I recently had a diagnostic hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy with Miss Lizzie Bean at Spire Hartswood, and I honestly cannot speak highly enough of my whole experience and the care I received. Miss Bean is a fantastic surgeon. She was incredibly reassuring and talked me through the procedure as it was happening, explaining everything clearly and making me feel completely at ease throughout. The whole hospital team at Spire Hartswood were wonderful. They were kind, caring and supportive, and could not have made me feel more relaxed and comfortable. I am extremely grateful for the care and professionalism I received. From Miss Bean from start to finish, the experience was handled with such compassion and reassurance. I would highly recommend Miss Bean she is wonderful!

Miss Bean had taken the time to read all my notes, which put me at ease snd made me feel listened to and understood.
