Dr Laura Azzopardi

Dr Laura Azzopardi is a highly dedicated Consultant Neurologist who provides expert care for patients experiencing a wide range of neurological conditions. With a clinical focus on neuroimmunology and complex brain disorders, she is committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care. Dr Azzopardi works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that individuals receive accurate diagnoses and tailored treatment plans that address their unique needs, helping them manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life.

As a Specialist in the field of Neurology, Dr Azzopardi has a particular clinical interest in neuroinflammatory disorders, with extensive expertise in the management of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Her clinical practice also encompasses general neurological care, including the assessment and treatment of epilepsy, movement disorders, headaches, and stroke. She is highly skilled in administering advanced disease-modifying therapies, such as alemtuzumab and cladribine, and actively contributes to service development initiatives aimed at reducing outpatient waiting times and streamlining patient pathways.

Dr Azzopardi completed her undergraduate medical training at the University of Malta Medical School, where she graduated in 2006 and was honoured with the prestigious Bank of Valletta (BOV) Prize in Medicine. She subsequently pursued advanced academic research, earning a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences from the University of Cambridge in 2017, where her doctoral work focused on neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis treatments. Dr Azzopardi is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and remains actively involved in clinical research and trials, contributing to peer-reviewed publications that advance the global understanding of neurological therapies.
