About Professor Kulveer Mankia
Dr Kulveer Mankia is a leading Rheumatologist and an internationally recognised expert on the early diagnosis and treatment of arthritis. He has particular expertise in rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory arthritis and palindromic rheumatism and routinely uses cutting-edge techniques such as ultrasound and MRI. He co-leads the world renowned Inflammatory Arthritis research group at the Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine.
He studied Medicine at Oxford University, graduating in 2006. Following this, he was awarded a prestigious academic clinical fellowship to train in general medicine at the John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals in Oxford. Dr Mankia has since spent the last decade specialising in rheumatology, working at two European centres of excellence, Oxford and Leeds. First he underwent general rheumatology training on the Oxford rheumatology rotation and then moved to Leeds for further specialist training and research.
Dr Mankia regularly publishes in the leading rheumatology journals, and gives lectures at a national and international level. He is a member of two international task forces on rheumatoid arthritis, as well as being the convener for one group. Furthermore, he sits on several national committees for inflammatory arthritis. He is also a member of the prestigious Royal College of Physicians.
