Dr Justin Pepperell

Dr Pepperell is a Respiratory Physician dealing with general medicine, lung and sleep disorders. He has been a full-time NHS consultant physician for eight years. His undergraduate training was completed in Cambridge and London before training in anaesthetics, ventilation and intensive care medicine in Bristol and the South West and then completing his specialist training in Oxford following an extensive research fellowship at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals.

He has a thriving practice in respiratory and acute general medicine with specialist clinics in complex lung diseases and sleep disorders.

Dr Pepperell developed advanced techniques in bronchoscopy and medical thoracoscopy and has specialist interest in sleep medicine. He is experienced in the setup of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Treatment and Non-Invasive Ventilation for Sleep apnoea and Respiratory Failure. Dr Pepperell has also developed advanced skills in the assessment and treatment of snoring.

Other interests

Dr Pepperell is a full time NHS clinician for Respiratory Medicine at the Somerset Lung Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital. He has a special interest in sleep medicine and pleural disease. He established a sleep laboratory and medical thoracoscopy service for the investigation of pleural fluid collections.

As a member of the British Thoracic Society and British Sleep Society he contributes regularly to ongoing national audits and present scientific papers to their annual congresses.

He has extensive experience in Medicolegal Report writing for Asbestos-related disease, personal injury and occupational lung disease.

Personal interests

Dr Pepperell has a strong interest in rowing having rowed for Cambridge in the boat race. He continues his involvement in rowing through commentating and some coaching.

His family is important and he enjoys coaching rugby at his local club for his two younger sons and playing golf, fishing, horse riding and surfing with all of his family.
