Dr. Benjamin Marshall

Dr Benjamin Marshall is a highly experienced Consultant Respiratory Physician with over 25 years of clinical practice. He is passionate about his patients’ health and wellbeing, placing great value on building long-term medical relationships, particularly with individuals living with chronic respiratory conditions.

His NHS practice is based at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, and his private practice has long been established at Spire Hospital, Southampton. He has served as a Board member of the Medical Advisory Committee at Spire Hospital for the past 14 years, contributing to clinical governance and service development.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Marshall has been actively involved in medical education for two decades within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. As an Associate Professor, he teaches and mentors undergraduate medical students as well as postgraduate respiratory trainees. He is also a Trustee of the Humanimal Trust, supporting collaborative research between human and veterinary medicine.

Dr Marshall assesses and manages a wide range of respiratory symptoms and conditions, including persistent cough, breathlessness, chest wall pain or discomfort, and abnormal chest X-rays. He provides comprehensive diagnostic testing, including spirometry with exercise testing, walking oximetry (six-minute walk testing), electrocardiography (ECG), flexible bronchoscopy and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. He is also able to arrange formal respiratory fitness-to-work assessments, including detailed lung function testing where required.
