Dr John Maclay

Dr John Maclay is a Consultant Respiratory Physician with over two decades of clinical experience. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2000, he underwent extensive postgraduate training in the West of Scotland. He later completed a postgraduate research degree at the University of Edinburgh focussed on Systemic inflammation in COPD and its response to therapy. 

Since his appointment as a Consultant in 2014, Dr Maclay has developed a comprehensive practice that addresses the full spectrum of respiratory disorders. Having held prominent leadership positions both regionally and nationally Dr Maclay practices from a evidence based approach and strives to improve respiratory care pathways and patient outcomes. 

He is particularly noted for his expertise in abnormal thoracic imaging and evaluating complex diagnostic cases as well as lung cancer and pulmonary nodules. His use of thoracic imaging enables him to emphasises rapid diagnostics within his practice. 

Alongside this Dr Mclay is dedicated to providing a relaxed and focused environment, ensuring patients feel fully informed throughout their consultations.
