Mr David Bowe

Mr David Bowe is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, appointed in 2014. He also consults privately at The Yorkshire Clinic, Spire Leeds Hospital and Airedale General Hospital.

He graduated from Sheffield University Medical School in 2004 and completed specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery on the South Yorkshire Rotation, developing a focus on upper limb surgery. He subsequently undertook fellowship training in upper limb surgery at the Royal Derby Hospital and the Pulvertaft Hand Unit. He also completed additional training at the Balgrist Klinik in Zurich under Professor Christian Gerber, gaining experience in reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

Mr Bowe’s clinical practice covers the full spectrum of shoulder and elbow conditions. His work includes arthroscopic and open procedures such as rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation, SLAP repair, treatment of frozen shoulder, shoulder replacement, elbow replacement, ACJ surgery, and surgical management of elbow arthritis. He also treats sports-related shoulder and elbow injuries and performs procedures such as cubital tunnel and carpal tunnel release.

He performs approximately 400 arthroscopic shoulder procedures and 50–65 shoulder replacements annually, alongside a broad range of upper limb and general trauma operations within his NHS practice, including clavicle and ACJ stabilisation, proximal humerus fixation, humeral shaft fixation and distal humerus fixation.

Mr Bowe is Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Airedale General Hospital and serves as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
