Dr Jennifer Prouten

Dr Jennifer Prouten is a dedicated Consultant Physician specialising in Endocrinology & Diabetes. She provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients managing a wide array of hormonal, metabolic, and glandular conditions. Adopting a compassionate and patient-centred approach, Dr Prouten works collaboratively with patients to formulate personalised management plans that empower individuals to take control of their long-term health and achieve optimal outcomes.

Her clinical practice encompasses all aspects of diabetes care and general endocrinology. Dr Prouten possesses expertise in the management of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, providing guidance on advanced treatment regimes, continuous glucose monitoring, and insulin therapy, including insulin pump management. She also works within multidisciplinary teams to deliver thorough diabetic foot care. In general endocrinology, her interests include the diagnosis and treatment of complex adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, including rare endocrine presentations such as Cyclical Cushing's Syndrome and disorders of sex development.

Dr Prouten completed her primary medical education, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). In addition to her clinical commitments, she actively participates in medical research and clinical education. Her academic work includes researching diagnostic accuracy in adult-onset diabetes, specifically evaluating the role of routine islet autoantibody testing to refine classification and optimise patient care.
