Dr Rajeev Kumar

Dr Rajeev Kumar is a Consultant Physician specialising in Acute Medicine, Diabetes, and Endocrinology at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust. He has been practising as a consultant since 2008 and has extensive experience in managing a broad range of endocrine and general medical conditions.

He graduated in medicine from Delhi University in 1993 and completed his specialist training within the Eastern Deanery (Cambridge rotation). During his training and subsequent career, he has worked in established teaching and district general hospitals, including Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Luton and Dunstable Hospital, and the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.

His clinical practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of endocrine and metabolic disorders. This includes care for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, insulin pump therapy, hypoglycaemia, and obesity. He also manages disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands, as well as conditions such as hypertension, dyslipidaemia, osteoporosis, and electrolyte imbalances.

In addition to his specialist work, Dr Kumar is involved in acute and general internal medicine, managing complex inpatient and outpatient cases. He has contributed to research in diabetes and has published in this field.

He has been based at Bedford Hospital since 2010, where he is involved in clinical service delivery and contributes to hospital committees and service development within his specialty.
