Dr. Bamrah qualified in medicine with an MB BS from Punjabi University in 1978. He subsequently pursued specialist training in psychiatry, obtaining his Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 1985 and being elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in 1997. He also holds a Diploma in Health Service Management, completed in 1994. A highly respected figure in the medical community, Dr. Bamrah has served in numerous leadership roles, including National Chairman of the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and President of the Manchester Medical Society. He has also held positions as a Council Member and Director of Continuing Professional Development for the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and works as an Honorary Reader. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to mental health, diversity, and healthcare, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2018.
