Dr Janani Pillai is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist with a special interest in multimodality imaging of skeletal injuries using Ultrasound, MRI, X-rays and CT. She is also an expert at providing imaging-guided musculoskeletal interventions and injections. She is experienced in elite sports, having worked as Sports Radiologist in the  XXII Commonwealth games.

After completing her general radiology training at King's College Hospital, London, she obtained her FRCR and the EDiR (European diploma in radiology). Whilst at King's, the extensive exposure to trauma and musculoskeletal radiology, Kings being one of the 4 major trauma centres in London, kindled her interest in musculoskeletal imaging which prompted her to obtain the sought-after musculoskeletal fellowship at Chelsea and Westminster hospital, London. During this time, she also did an Honorary Fellowship at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. Following this, Dr Pillai is now a substantive Consultant Radiologist in the London North West Health Care NHS Trust (Northwick Park, Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals).

Dr J K Pillai (Previously Dr J Kumaraguru) is a recipient of the Institute of Leadership and Management endorsed Award as a Radiology Registrar in 2015.  She is an invited member of the European Society of Skeletal Radiologists Sports, Arthritis and Ultrasound Subcommittees which are involved in drafting practice guidelines for European Radiologists. As a part of the British Society of Skeletal Radiologists Expert panel, she is involved in revising the Royal College of Radiologists' guidelines for imaging referrals in the United Kingdom.

Dr Pillai has been nominated for The Trainer of the Year Award in 2017 for her commitment to teaching. She enjoys teaching radiology including Ultrasound imaging to Radiologists, Medical Students, Doctors and other Healthcare Professionals, having been part of the Faculty in London MSK Ultrasound Skills Course and continues to be involved with Imperial College. She has held Honoroary teaching role with Kings College London and Peninsula medical School. She continues to extensively lecture in various regional meetings, national and international conferences on invite.
