About Mr James Rudd
Mr. James Rudd is a Consultant ENT, Head & Neck, and Thyroid Surgeon based in London, with extensive expertise in general ENT surgery and specific interests in thyroid cancer, head and neck surgery, and voice disorders. He runs a regular paediatric ENT clinic at the Royal Free Hospital and also consults at Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals. He is a key member of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust's Thyroid Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
Mr. Rudd's training has been extensive, having worked across the South East, London and Oxford at renowned institutions such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Guy’s & St. Thomas’s Hospitals, Evelina London, the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals. He is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of ENT disorders in both paediatric and adult patients.
He completed an advanced fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology including robotic surgery at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Rudd is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University College London (UCL) Medical School taking an active role in medical student teaching as the UCL undergraduate programme Lead for ENT / Head & Neck Surgery at Barnet Hospital. Throughout his career, he has contributed numerous articles to peer-reviewed scientific publications and has presented his research at both national and international conferences.
Mr. Rudd also has a passion for remote and global healthcare, having worked in Antarctica, Australia and participated in surgical outreach programs in Ghana and Nepal.

I found Mr Rudd to be professional and personable. He took his time to listen to my concerns, answer my question’s and explained to me what I needed to know in a calm and informative manner. He carried out a minor investigative procedure during my appointment and I felt reassured by the time I walked out of his office.. His service was excellent and would totally recommend.
I went to see Dr Rudd for an outer ear infection. Was seen incredibly quickly, Dr Rudd thoroughly explained each step of what he was doing. I also had a minor procedure and was impressed at how thorough and professional Dr Rudd was. The level of expertise was great and I would highly recommend seeing him.
Mr Rudd was very patient and listened carefully to the medical history and then showed a lot of consideration for the situation in explaining the diagnosis. He went out of his way to help and resolve the issue. There are no reservations about recommending Mr Rudd or returning to his clinic in the future.
I was seen by Dr. Rudd in May 2025 over concerns about a thyroid nodule. He led the whole treatment and performed my thyroid removal surgery perfectly. I sincerely thank him for his professionalism, patience and expertise.
