About Dr James Fox

Dr Fox is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience working with children, young people and families across NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

He completed his medical and psychiatric training in London, including core psychiatry training at University College London (UCL), where he worked at University College Hospital and undertook specialist training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Thorpe Coombe Hospital.

Dr Fox completed his higher specialist training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s leading centres for child and adolescent mental health. During this time, he gained extensive experience in community CAMHS, liaison psychiatry, specialist eating disorders at the Royal Free Hospital, and the Tavistock Looked After Children (LAC) Service, before completing his training at the Coborn Adolescent Unit in East London.

Following qualification as a consultant, Dr Fox joined the Hackney Adolescent Team, providing specialist care for young people with some of the most complex and severe mental health difficulties. The service was recognised as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Since moving to East Anglia, Dr Fox has worked as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist within the Great Yarmouth Community Youth and Crisis Service and later in liaison psychiatry in Suffolk, where he also served as an Associate Clinical Director.

Alongside his independent practice in Norwich, Dr Fox continues to work part-time as an NHS Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist within a community CAMHS team in Suffolk. Maintaining an active NHS role enables him to remain at the forefront of evidence-based practice while continuing to support children, adolescents and their families with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.
