Dr Imran Ghanghro

Dr Imran Ghanghro is a Consultant Gastroenterologist practising at Spire Little Aston Hospital and Spire Parkway Hospital. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, including GI motility disorders, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), liver and pancreatic diseases, and nutrition-related problems. In his NHS role, he currently serves as Endoscopy Lead at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, where he sees patients with both common and complex gastrointestinal presentations.

Dr Ghanghro has a particular interest in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Over the course of his career, he has performed thousands of procedures including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and flexible sigmoidoscopy. He is an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist and is actively involved in complex polyp work within the trust. His endoscopic practice is underpinned by consistently high key performance indicators (KPIs), reflecting his commitment to quality and safety in every procedure.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Ghanghro is a dedicated educator. He is an experienced endoscopy trainer and faculty lead on numerous national JAG (Joint Advisory Group) endoscopy training courses, playing a key role in training the next generation of endoscopists. He places strong emphasis on patient care and communication, fostering close and collaborative relationships with his patients to ensure their needs are fully understood and addressed.

Dr Ghanghro earned his MB BS from Dow Medical College, Karachi, in 1996. He holds postgraduate qualifications including Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), the Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) in Gastroenterology, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC no. 6093045).
