Dr Ian Appleby is a consultant neuroanaesthetist based at Cleveland Clinic London Hospital.
He has clinical interests in the following areas:
He is an expert in his field and is involved in research in his specialty areas. He also enjoys delivering lectures and writing articles on these topics.
Dr Appleby undertook his medical training at St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, graduating in 1983. He then trained in anaesthetics and studied in the UK and Singapore. Following this, he spent 6 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a product manager and as medical lead for regulatory affairs. In 1996, he returned to anaesthesia and was based at Wycombe Hospital before undertaking registrar training at Imperial College London. Additionally, he has completed a fellowship in neuroanesthesia. In 2003, he became a substantive consultant at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Dr Appleby is a member of the council of the Neuro Anaesthesia and Critical Care Society and has been their honorary treasurer for the past 4 years.
Outside of the hospital, his hobbies include sports, and he enjoys playing cricket and supporting Newcastle United.
He speaks English and French.
