Dr Iain McFadyen

Dr Iain McFadyen is a highly accomplished Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in orthopaedic trauma, complex limb reconstruction, and musculoskeletal injury management. His primary clinical focus centres on providing expert surgical care for individuals affected by severe injuries, long-term bone infections, and structural limb conditions. Dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-focused care, Dr McFadyen strives to restore physical function, alleviate chronic pain, and support long-term physical rehabilitation.

His extensive clinical expertise encompasses the management of complex upper and lower limb fractures, non-union of fractures, and limb deformity correction. Dr McFadyen performs advanced internal fixation procedures and is a recognised specialist in the application of circular external fixators, such as Ilizarov and Taylor Spatial frames. His surgical practice also includes managing severe bone infections, soft-tissue complications, and complex acute trauma, utilising modern surgical methodologies tailored to the unique physiological needs of each patient.

Dr McFadyen qualified in medicine with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), subsequently attaining Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS Ed) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics (FRCS Tr & Orth). Demonstrating a longstanding commitment to clinical excellence and education, he has served in major national and international leadership roles, including Chairman for Trauma covering Europe and South Africa for AO Trauma, National Director of Clinical Audit for the Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN), and Co-Chair of Fracture Guideline Development Groups for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). He maintains active professional involvement with the British Orthopaedic Association and the Orthopaedic Trauma Society.
