I am an established consultant orthopaedic surgeon working in the independent sector treating patients with musculoskeletal problems affecting the lower leg including the knee, foot and ankle and podiatry problems. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing
patients with these conditions having worked previously at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS trust where I was one of the senior surgeons for over 17 years.
During this time I was the lead surgeon for foot & ankle surgery, running a tertiary service for
complex foot and ankle trauma. I also set up and ran an Achilles tendon service treating patients with on-going Achilles tendon problems and was one of the regional centres offering total ankle replacements. I have developed and am a proponent for the modern minimally invasive techniques in the surgical management of bunions and osteoarthritis of the foot as well as being experienced in the traditional surgical and medical management of common foot and ankle problems including heel pain and Achilles tendonopathy.
I treat all knee conditions including soft tissue injuries, tendon problems, and osteoarthritis and
undertake knee arthroscopy and knee replacements
I bring this knowledge and experience into the independent sector where my philosophy is reduction of pain to improve function and quality of life. I am an avid walker, mountaineer, runner and student of tai chi and understand the importance of physical health and function in the modern world where time is precious.
I utilise the latest techniques and advancements in science to treat patients with knee, foot and
ankle problems. I will use all my experience to get patients back on track with their amazing precious life.
I have treated professional athletes including footballers, rugby union and hockey players. I have treated professional dancers including ballet dancers and have got them back to competing / working at high levels.

Mr Rees is an excellent surgeon put me at ease and explained all the steps and possible problems to a tee. I am amazed at my mobility after only a few weeks. Can’t thank mr Rees and all at Nuffield Health enough
He explained everything in detail before and after the operation and on my review he was pleased with my progress and I was impressed with his professionalism
From entering the hospital I felt relaxed and confident. Staff were helpful and professional at all levels. Mr Rees made me feel optimistic about my issue without over promising. His approach encouraged me to ask questions and the meeting was not rushed. I felt valued and now looking forward to the next appointment and hopefully further progression.
Mr Rees clearly explained the procedure and likely after effects plus the necessary requirements to make a successful recovery from this type of operation.
