I am an established consultant orthopaedic surgeon working in the independent sector treating patients with musculoskeletal problems affecting the lower leg including the knee, foot and ankle and podiatry problems. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in managing
patients with these conditions having worked previously at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS trust where I was one of the senior surgeons for over 17 years.
During this time I was the lead surgeon for foot & ankle surgery, running a tertiary service for
complex foot and ankle trauma. I also set up and ran an Achilles tendon service treating patients with on-going Achilles tendon problems and was one of the regional centres offering total ankle replacements. I have developed and am a proponent for the modern minimally invasive techniques in the surgical management of bunions and osteoarthritis of the foot as well as being experienced in the traditional surgical and medical management of common foot and ankle problems including heel pain and Achilles tendonopathy.
I treat all knee conditions including soft tissue injuries, tendon problems, and osteoarthritis and
undertake knee arthroscopy and knee replacements
I bring this knowledge and experience into the independent sector where my philosophy is reduction of pain to improve function and quality of life. I am an avid walker, mountaineer, runner and student of tai chi and understand the importance of physical health and function in the modern world where time is precious.
I utilise the latest techniques and advancements in science to treat patients with knee, foot and
ankle problems. I will use all my experience to get patients back on track with their amazing precious life.
I have treated professional athletes including footballers, rugby union and hockey players. I have treated professional dancers including ballet dancers and have got them back to competing / working at high levels.

Mr Robin Rees is excellent and professional in his interactions with patients. He provides clear explanations, ensures patients feel at ease, and receives praise for successful procedures like fusion to the toe joint, bunion surgery, and various ankle operations. Patients report reduced pain and improved mobility, appreciating the smooth, thorough process from initial consultation to aftercare. The care provided by Mr Rees leads to significant enhancements in quality of life, particularly for those undergoing foot and ankle surgery.
I have recently had triple fusion on my left ankle, Mr Rees was professional, caring and extremely good during my treatment and I would certainly recommend him .
I received outstanding care all the way from my first pre assessment appointment right through to post operative follow up and discharge. My procedure was explained in great detail and I was kept informed throughout the whole process. I felt reassured that I was in good hands . I would have no reservations in recommending Mr Rees
The whole experience of my treatment was great. All staff were extremely friendly, helpful and polite. I’m really pleased I chose this hospital and I would definitely choose it again should I need any treatment in the future.
Mr Rees was excellent from the beginning of my care pathway, ensuring I understood the process for my fusion operation and giving me reassurance following the operation regarding the recovery. I was given many follow-up appointments and x-rays to ensure monitoring of the healing. I am now off the crutches and boot; having an open 3 month appointment if required. Thank you Mr Rees
Surgery went extremely well. Initial follow up appointments were fine. Since then it has mainly been phone appointments.
Mr Rees was clear and concise about the issues. Had a clear plan and was open about recovery from surgery. The surgery itself was very efficient and thanks in no small part to this I am making a quick recovery.
I attended Rowley hospital after being referred by the NHS. Mr Rees diagnosed my condition as a Haglund deformity on my right heel. Mr Rees advised we try steroid injections first, I had 2 of these injections 6 months apart over a 12 month period. Sadly there was no improvement in my condition. Mr Rees and myself decided surgery would be required/best option next. I had surgery June 17th this year 2026 to remove the haglund. Recovery seems to be going well.
Mr Rees knew exactly what needed doing to rectify the issue I had. He came up with a plan, which he talked me through. I was kept informed throughout the process about what would happen and when. The recovery times were explained before and after the operation. I am extremely happy with the positive difference the procedure has had on my everyday life and cannot thank Mr Rees enough that I am free from pain.
Excellent treatment and care with clear explanation of what to do
Excellent surgical knowledge and skills
