Dr Hester Taekema

Dr Hester Taekema is an established Consultant Paediatrician who provides expert, empathetic care to infants, children, and young people. Operating as a Clinical Lead within paediatric medicine, she is dedicated to offering comprehensive diagnostic assessments and tailored treatment plans for a wide range of childhood health conditions. Her clinical practice focuses on family-centred care, ensuring that parents and young patients feel fully supported, informed, and reassured throughout every stage of their healthcare journey.

With extensive expertise in general and acute paediatric care, Dr Taekema manages both complex and routine medical issues in children. Her specific clinical interests encompass paediatric emergency medicine, high dependency care, paediatric allergy management, and childhood respiratory conditions such as asthma. In addition, she has significant experience in dealing with paediatric infectious diseases, developmental disorders, rapid access paediatric assessments, and child protection services. Dr Taekema completed her medical education and postgraduate training, achieving advanced qualifications including a Master of Medicine (MD) and a Master of Science (MSc).
