Ms Gopalan Vijaya

Ms Gopalan Vijaya is a consultant obstetrician and urogynaecologist at Frimley Park Hospital where she is the current clinical lead for gynaecology clinical governance. She provides emergency obstetrics and gynaecology services and specialises in urogynaecology. Ms Vijaya's particular areas of specialty include pelvic floor surgery, uterovaginal prolapse (primary & secondary), female urinary incontinence, obstetric anal sphincter injuries and bladder pain syndrome. She is skilled in urodynamics as well as procedures such as endoanal USS, anorectal manometry, flexible cystoscopy, and percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation.

Ms Vijaya qualified in 1993 with an MBBS from Bharatidasan University before completing subspecialist urogynaecology training at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She gained her MD (Res) in 2014 and spent time as a clinical research fellow for a further 2.5 years. As a result of her research, she has gained a number of publications in medical journals and presented at a number of national and international conferences.
