Dr Giles Armstrong

Dr Giles Armstrong is a highly dedicated Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Clinical Director for Integrated Paediatrics. With a career focused on providing compassionate and high-quality care to young patients, he specialises in managing acute childhood illnesses and emergency presentations. Dr Armstrong is deeply committed to creating inclusive, supportive, and calming environments for children and their families during stressful hospital visits, particularly advocating for tailored care pathways for autistic children and those with sensory sensitivities.

Throughout his career, Dr Armstrong has held several key clinical leadership roles, focusing on children's safeguarding and integrated paediatric care. He has served as a Named Doctor for Children's Safeguarding and continues to act as a Deputy Named Doctor, ensuring the safety and protection of vulnerable young people. His clinical interests also extend to developing standardised care guidelines, such as improving discharge pathways for children experiencing moderate asthma exacerbations, to ensure safe and seamless transitions from emergency care back to the community.

Dr Armstrong completed his medical degree at the University of Cambridge and in London, qualifying as a medical doctor in 1997. He subsequently undertook extensive specialist training in Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine across Newcastle, London, and Sydney. Upon gaining his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), he worked as a Consultant Paediatrician at several major healthcare institutions before returning to his current clinical and leadership roles.
