Dr Gareth David Barnes

Dr Gareth David Barnes is a highly regarded Consultant Interventional Cardiologist who provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of general and interventional cardiology. He is widely recognised for his thoughtful, evidence-based approach to patient care, specialising in coronary intervention and aortic valve disease. Dr Barnes is dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care, utilising advanced diagnostic assessments and state-of-the-art interventional techniques to support patients with complex cardiac conditions.

Dr Barnes began his medical training at the University of Glasgow, graduating with his medical degree (MBChB) in 2003, alongside a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics. Following his general medical training, he completed specialist training in cardiology through the London Deanery, which included advanced interventional fellowships. He was also awarded a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, funded by a prestigious British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship, focusing on novel therapeutic targets for heart failure.
