Dr Finn Nesbitt

Dr Nesbitt is a highly experienced Consultant Anaesthetist with a distinguished career spanning specialist centres across the UK and internationally. He is committed to delivering consistently high standards of care, with a particular focus on patient wellbeing and the alleviation of pre-procedural anxiety through clear communication and a warm, reassuring approach.

Clinical Expertise

Dr Nesbitt specialises in a broad range of anaesthetic techniques, including General Anaesthesia, Total Intravenous Anaesthesia (TIVA), Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia, and Spinal Anaesthesia. His experience in acute pain management spans all age groups, with a keen interest in regional techniques including epidurals, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA), spinals, and oral analgesia regimens.

Training & Career

Dr Nesbitt read Neuroscience and Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with a BMedSci and MBChB. He subsequently completed specialist anaesthetic training through the London School of Anaesthesia, gaining experience at leading institutions including the Royal Free Hospital, University College Hospital, and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

His career has spanned both NHS and independent practice. He has held Consultant posts at Homerton Hospital London, Southmead Hospital Bristol, and Leeds General Infirmary. At Practice Plus Group in Bristol, he served as Resuscitation Lead for three years before taking on the role of Lead Consultant for resident doctor training and shoulder/upper limb anaesthesia. He has also worked in emergency medicine in New Zealand.

Dr Nesbitt has been involved in research into anaesthetic machine design for use in developing-world and challenging environments, and has contributed to high-altitude physiology research.
