Miss Yasmine Huq

Miss Yasmine Huq is a highly experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with more than 19 years of experience in obstetrics. 

As a mother herself, Miss Huq understands that pregnancy and birth are not only significant medical events but also deeply personal life experiences. She appreciates that every pregnancy is unique and that women may experience both excitement and uncertainty along the way. Her approach centres on providing clear communication, thoughtful guidance, and personalised support, empowering women to make informed decisions about their individual preferences and birth plans.

Miss Huq is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Royal Free Hospital, where she cares for women with both routine and high-risk pregnancies and provides ambulatory gynaecology services. Her NHS practice includes a dedicated weekly high-risk antenatal clinic, a regular elective caesarean section list, and consultant-led care on the labour ward. 

After graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2001, Miss Huq completed the prestigious Guy's and St Thomas' surgical rotation, gaining Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) before specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology. She subsequently achieved Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and developed specialist expertise in maternal medicine and the management of complex and high-risk pregnancies.

Alongside her clinical work, Miss Huq has a strong academic background and was awarded an MD (Res) from University College London (UCL), where her research focused on improving the care of women with complex medical conditions during pregnancy. She has also served as Maternity Risk Lead, playing an important role in enhancing patient safety, strengthening collaboration, and improving communication within maternity services to optimise outcomes for mothers and babies.

Whether supporting pregnancies, managing complex maternal medical conditions, or guiding women through labour and birth, she remains dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care that prioritises the wellbeing of both mother and baby.
