Dr Deborah Boyle is a highly respected Consultant Gynaecologist with more than 30 years of experience, specialising in vulval disease, colposcopy, sexual dysfunction, and general gynaecology. She practises at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, where she leads both the vulval service and colposcopy, and she also sees private patients at The Wellington Hospital, The Portland Hospital, and the Platinum Medical Centre, part of HCA Healthcare UK.
Dr Boyle graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1991 and completed her postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in London. In 2000, she was awarded an MD for her groundbreaking research exploring the relationship between bacterial vaginosis and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. She became a Member and later a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and is also a Diplomate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH). Dr Boyle holds memberships with several professional societies, including the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), the British Society for the Study of Vulval Disease (BSSVD), the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD), and the General Medical Council (GMC).
Dr Boyle’s expertise focuses on the management of lower genital tract diseases, including vulval disorders, abnormal smear tests, pre-cancerous genital skin conditions, painful sex, and vulval pain conditions such as vulvodynia and lichen sclerosus. In addition to her specialist interests, she provides comprehensive general gynaecological care for women with heavy or painful periods, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), menopause, hormonal issues, contraception, and pelvic pain.
Her clinical practice embraces a holistic and compassionate approach, recognising the importance of considering the whole person and their individual circumstances in medical care. Dr Boyle is also interested in the influence of patients’ faith and beliefs on healthcare preferences and has lectured on this subject.
In addition to her clinical and teaching work, Dr Boyle has contributed to research on the vaginal microbiome and its relationship with cervical health, reflecting her broader interest in the interplay between immunity, infection, and gynaecological conditions.

I had been rather dreading the appointment and the procedure. She was both understanding and reassuring.
Dr Boyle is always thorough, empathetic and very clear in her explanations. I've had a really positive experience under her care.
I’ve been seeing Deborah Boyle for many years now and she has always been friendly, supportive and professional.
