Dr Farah Barakat

Dr Farah Barakat is a highly qualified Consultant Paediatrician who specialises in Paediatrics, with a dedicated focus on paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition. She is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to children and young people, ensuring that her young patients and their families feel supported throughout their healthcare journey. Alongside her clinical practice, she is actively involved in medical education and research as a Senior Clinical Lecturer, helping to train the next generation of medical professionals and advance the understanding of childhood illnesses.

With extensive expertise in complex gastrointestinal and nutritional disorders, Dr Barakat has a particular clinical interest in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Her clinical work also covers very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (VEOIBD), paediatric gastroparesis, and the management of growth and bone health in children with chronic gastrointestinal conditions. She is highly skilled in utilising advanced therapeutic options, such as biologic therapies and exclusive enteral nutrition, to provide comprehensive, individualised care plans that promote long-term health and well-being.

Dr Barakat completed her medical training and holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) degree. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic excellence, she went on to obtain a Master of Science (MSc) in Gastroenterology and a Medical Doctorate (MD Res) in Gastroenterology. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH) and maintains active professional membership with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), ensuring her practice remains at the forefront of paediatric medicine.
