About Mr Emeka Oragui
Mr Emeka Oragui is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hip Surgeon based at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Hospital. He specialises in all aspects of hip surgery including hip replacements, hip revision or redo surgery, hip arthroscopy, and sports injuries around the hip. Mr Oragui uses the muscle sparing direct anterior approach for hip replacements, allowing faster recovery and better stability. Mr Oragui has extensive experience in robotic surgery, computer navigation, and stem cell injections which allows him to offer his patients bespoke solutions for their problems.
Mr Orgaui gained his medical qualifications from the University of Cambridge and University College London. He undertook specialist orthopaedic training at the Royal London Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and advanced fellowship training in Sydney and Oxford. He has published his research findings in a number of medical journals and presented at international conferences. His research interests are centred around the benefits of anterior hip replacement surgery and hip preservation techniques.

I had a recent hip replacement operation. I was treated with care and compassion and had complete trust that I was in good hands. I would definitely recommend.
Mr Oragui explained the full hip replacement procedure clearly and it was carried out successfully with the smallest of scars. Although I was given three levels of painkillers post-op, I never needed anything stronger than paracetamol. I did some exercises pre-op and now post-op and recovery is even better than I was told. The anaesthetist also gave me options and I opted for her recommended spinal and sedation, which was very satisfactory. Many thanks to nurses, physios and all the team.

Mr Oragui expertly performed a hip replacement 4 weeks ago using the anterior approach. He is only one of a few surgeons specialising in this technqiue. I am pain free for the first time in many years and glad I found him. His bedside manner is second to none.
I picked up double pneumonia during the operation and was transferred to another hospital - the care and attention I received from Mr Oragui was outstanding
Very clear in laying out the options and talking through the details both before and after surgery. Surgery went really well and was surprised by how little pain there was in the days immediately after the operation. Everything is responding well to the rehab process so couldn’t ask for more.

Having dreaded this operation and put it off for quite a while, it was surprisingly stress-free and, dare I say, not unpleasant. Mr. Oragui projected confidence, introduced me to options such as anterior or posterior procedure and produced the shortest recovery time. I was back on my feet, without crutches in 5 weeks. Impressed.
