Dr. Elizabeth Garthwaite

I am a consultant renal physician within the Leeds Teaching
Hospitals NHS Trust where I have been employed since 2008. I am the Associate Medical Director for the trust - managing the workforce.

My particular interests are in general kidney/nephrology
disease, including nephrotic syndrome, the assessment and management of hypertension,
the management and assessment of chronic kidney disease, and the management of
patients receiving dialysis. I also am an experienced general physician and
look after patients with general medical complaints.

My research interests are within education and training -
both of health care professionals but also patients - helping them to learn to
live with their conditions and improve their quality of life and experiences by
empowering them to take part in decision making and in some cases their treatment.

I trained in the Yorkshire region, and have a special
interest in teaching both medical students and junior doctors.

I am married with 4 children, and enjoy living in Yorkshire.
