Dr Dushen Murugiah

Dr Dushen Murugiah is a dedicated Consultant Gastroenterologist who provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of digestive health conditions. Specialising in luminal gastroenterology, he focuses on evaluating and managing complex disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Dr Murugiah works closely alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure that patients receive clear, evidence-based, and individualised management plans.

His primary areas of clinical interest include Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and clinical nutrition, serving as a Lead for Nutrition within his clinical department. He has substantial expertise in diagnosing and managing coeliac disease, refractory coeliac disease, malabsorption, and unexplained anaemia. Through careful clinical assessment and structured nutritional strategies, he supports individuals experiencing chronic digestive symptoms, irritable bowel syndrome, and complex nutritional deficiencies.

In addition to outpatient and inpatient medical care, Dr Murugiah is a skilled endoscopist trained in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. His procedural expertise includes upper gastrointestinal gastroscopy, colonoscopy, removal of bowel polyps, oesophageal dilatation, oesophageal stenting, and varices assessments. Dr Murugiah obtained his primary medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), before successfully completing higher postgraduate medical training to attain Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP).
