Dr Bhatia qualified in medicine at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in London. He formally trained in general medicine and cardiology (for 15 years in total) in London at hospitals that included the Hammersmith Hospital (Imperial College), the Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital. This training included 3 years in basic science research (vascular biology and immunology) at Imperial College, London for which he was awarded a PhD in 2005.
Dr Bhatia is a fully trained general cardiologist with expertise in the field of cardiac imaging, specifically transthoracic, transoesophageal echocardiographic techniques and stress echocardiography (both with exercise and with pharmacological stress agents), and also diagnostic coronary angiography. He is an Honorary Consultant at Kings College, London, where he performs stress echocardiography studies and works closely with the cardiology/cardiothoracic team. Dr Bhatia is accredited by the British Society of Echocardiography for which he serves as a training supervisor and examiner.

Dr Bhatia is an excellent consultant. He is very attentive either by phone or face to face, organises tests and interventions very methodically, examines data closely, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to bear. He's frank and takes great care to explain treatment, prognosis etc. I feel extremely well cared for by him and the cardiac team. In fact I am impressed by all the staff. Thank you.

I have been experiencing chest pains for a number of years. They have been debilitating and distressing and have a huge affect on my quality of life. I was always dismissed by doctors through the NHS because of my age and was never offered any in depth investigation. I sought the opinion of Dr Bhatia as his expertise and background speak for themselves. He worked with me to go through in depth cardiac examinations including ECG, Echo and a CT angiogram. The care and empathy he showed me through the entire process was second to none and he took the time to be thorough in our consultations. He is quite frankly the best clinician I have had the pleasure to deal with and I can't thank him enough for his help and reassurance. 10/10 human being.
