Dr Wojtek Rakowicz is a respected Consultant Neurologist providing comprehensive care covering all aspects of general neurology including persistent headaches, migraine dizziness, epilepsy, fits and memory problems. He is an expert in peripheral neuropathy, muscle disease, motor neurone disease, and diseases of the spinal cord and cauda equina.
Dr Wojtek Rakowicz has held numerous leadership positions and is currently the senior neurologist at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He was also an Associate Medical Director of the Trust from 2015 to 2020 and the Winchester & Basingstoke's first (and now Lead) Medical Examiner.
Dr Rakowicz graduated with degrees in Medicine (MB BS) and Neuroscience (BSc, 1st class honours) from King's College London. He has since worked at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen Square (Neurology & Neurophysiology); The Maudsley Hospital (Psychiatry); and the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital (Neurology). He completed his neurology training and research in Cambridge and Washington University in St Louis, MO, USA where he wrote, with Professor John Hodges, the original Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination, recently revised (ACE-3), which has rapidly become a reference assessment tool, used in Memory Clinics worldwide. He was also awarded a PhD by the University of Cambridge for his research into Motor Neurone Disease.
Dr Rakowicz is married with three children and he enjoys long walks and making music.
