About Professor Waqas Ullah

Professor Ullah is a Consultant Cardiologist with many years of experience, who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders and the implantation and management of heart devices, like pacemakers. His NHS base is the University Hospital Southampton and he is a Professor at University Hospital Southampton.

He qualified as doctor from Guy's King's and St Thomas School of Medicine, and also gained his BSc in Neuroscience. After gaining his qualifications, he undertook training within London and the South East, training in electrophysiology and devices at a variety of prestigious London hospitals, such as St Thomas Hospital, Harefield Hospital and St Bartholomew's Hospital, under leading experts. During his training, Waqas gained particular interest in complex ablation and congenital heart disease, and went on to gain his clinical PhD in this research area. This gave him knowledge and expertise of modern technologies within pacing and ablation, and also published various peer reviewed papers on such techniques, in high status scientific journals. He is also active in the teaching community, by taking time to train other consultants both nationally and internationally in how to undertake complex cardiology procedures.

Waqas is a superb electrophysiologist and cardiologist. He has great Cath lab skills including ablation, simple pacemakers and complex devices. He has a great bedside manner and is a great colleague who I work with closely on a daily basis other in the NHS and private sector. I'd highly recommend him to anyone with palpitations, AF or rhythm problems
