About Dr Syed Ahsan
Consultant cardiologist Dr Ahsan is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital where he is also the training lead for the heart rhythm unit at Barts Health Centre. He also sees patients at North Middlesex University Hospital and was responsible for implementing the arrhythmia service there.
Dr Ahsan takes pride in putting his patients first and conducts thorough assessments, fully informing his patients of their treatment options. He treats a range of cardiac symptoms, such as blackouts, chest pains, dizziness, and high blood pressure. He also uses the latest technology available to perform both basic and complex catheter ablation treatments for all arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation). In addition, Dr Ahsan specialises in cardiac device implantation including pacemaker, defibrillator, and cardiac resynchronisation therapy.
Dr Ahsan gained his medical qualification from Guy's, King's, and St Thomas' Medical School before undertaking his specialist cardiology training and completing a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac devices at the Heart Hospital. He also earned an MD from University College London, where his research investigating techniques to improve outcomes in patients with cardiac rhythm devices earned him the Royal Society of Medicine National Prize. He remains active in research and is currently investigating novel methods for the treatment of atrial fibrillation.

I went to see Dr Ahsan with concerns over family history of heart issues. He is an extremely thorough, kind and professional Consultant. His manner is very reassuring and takes time to listen and understand concerns that you have.

His technical/medical information was presented in a very straightforward and easy to understand manner. At the end I had no hesitation in asking him to undertake the procedure I needed. On the day of the procedure, once again, his manner and approach was reassuring throughout and his continuing advice and support has been outstanding.
Dr Ahsan has been wonderful. He listens, explains, is knowledgeable, easy to talk to and has a lovely yet professional manner. I felt I was in a very safe pair of hands and completely confident under is care. I feel I can highly recommend him.
I felt Dr Ahsan listened very carefully to what I was saying, explained clearly what the issues might be, did not rush to judgement and set out, again very clearly, the courses of action available to me. I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
I was under the care of Dr Syed Ahsan for just over a year, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He provided exceptional care for my postviral autonomic dysfunction (a condition that is often difficult to get proper care for). He took the time to listen carefully, investigate properly, and tailor a retreatment plan that addressed the root of the problem rather than just the symptoms. Thanks to his expertise and genuinely holistic approach, I am now recovering well. I’m deeply grateful for his care and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking a doctor who is both knowledgeable and compassionate and who truly goes above and beyond for his patients.

CardiologistSyed is an excellent Electrophysiologist as well as General Cardiologist. He has always had great communication skills and a fantastic bedside manner. He is also very well trained and achieves excellent results with his ablation procedures. I would absolutely have him treat my family members.
