Dr Simon Anderson is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at London Bridge Hospital, and also practises at Guy's & St Thomas' Foundation Trust. At the renowned London Bridge Hospital, Dr Anderson and his team carry out consultations, diagnosis and treatment of digestive and stomach diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and Crohn's disease.
Dr Anderson graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1990. He then underwent higher specialist training at King's College Hospital (Liver Diseases and Intensive Care) and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital (Gastroenterology) in London. He was awarded a Wellcome Institute Research Fellowship and went on to conduct full-time research at St Thomas' Hospital. He was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from the University of London in 2004. He was appointed Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Guy's and St Thomas' Foundation Trust in 2006 where he leads an acute general medicine firm.
His interests include all therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy and balloon enteroscopy, wireless capsule endoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). His research interests include techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of small-intestinal disease and ulcerative colitis. He is a lead investigator in a trial of the role of exercise in Crohn's disease and is a co-investigator into the genetics of IBD.

Dr Anderson has a warm and friendly manner which had a reassuring effect on me almost immediately after I entered his consulting room. He speaks clearly and concisely and, most important of all, he listened carefully and was able tease out the correct interpretation of any any vague or imprecise description I had made about any symptoms of my condition. The most impressive consultation I have ever had with a doctor.

I have been seeing Dr Anderson since the diagnosis of my medical condition in 2010 and he has always been excellent. He is very responsive to requests for appointments, always quick to follow up and keeps his reports concise and explained in simple terms, which makes understanding the situation with my condition that much easier.

Dr Anderson managed my care impeccably. He did a thorough questionnaire of my symptoms and ordered the necessary follow up tests. I received my results quickly too. He has a friendly and warm bedside manner and explains things along the way which really set my mind at ease.

5 years ago I started my routine colonoscopy exams. This year I was due for my next 5 year review but pulled it forward due to some symptoms that had arisen. Despite the fact that I had moved house and GP surgery I still wanted to go back to Dr. Anderson for my investigation. He makes what could be a very anxious experience as relaxed as possible and I am very grateful for that.

I cannot recommend him highly enough to any patient who is looking for a highly experienced and regarded Dr who genuinely has a real care in dealing with patients to give the best outcomes.
