Dr Sanjay Prasad

Professor Sanjay Prasad is a Consultant Cardiologist with nearly two decades of experience in the treatment and management of cardiac conditions such as coronary heart disease, heart failure and, cardiomyopathy. Professor Prasad is also well versed in cardiac imaging techniques including cardiac MRI and leads a familial cardiomyopathy screening clinic at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Professor Prasad earned his bachelor's degree in medicine at and the University of Wales and Havard University, USA, after which he undertook his clinical training at Hospital Cantonal, Geneva, Switzerland. He then joined the specialist register in 2003. Since then, Professor Prasad has also made numerous contributions to the clinical research field and has authored book chapters on the use of cardiac MRI in the evaluation of heart failure. He is also currently on the editorial board for the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and has published many peer-reviewed articles in renowned journals.

Professor Prasad has also presented his department's research on cardiomyopathy and other up-to-date information on cardiac MRI for evaluating heart failure at national and international conferences and meetings. He also hosted international events in partnership with the National Heart and Lung Institute alongside Professor Dudley Pennell. Professor Prasad is also passionate about medical education, and regularly tutors medical students at Imperial College London.
