Dr Nicholas Kelland

Dr Nicholas Kelland is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and heart rhythm disorders. He has worked as a Consultant in Sheffield since 2012, when he joined the Cardiac Electrophysiology and Devices service at Northern General Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

His practice is focused on patients experiencing palpitations, dizziness, blackouts, syncope and abnormal heart rhythms, including more complex arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. He performs more than 250 electrophysiology and cardiac device procedures each year, using contemporary ablation and device techniques. Dr Kelland sub-specialised in electrophysiology and cardiac devices, developing expertise in both straightforward and complex rhythm disorders. His procedural work includes catheter ablation for a broad spectrum of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, as well as cardiac rhythm device procedures.

He also co-founded the Sheffield Arrhythmia Centre at Thornbury Hospital with Consultant Cardiologist Dr Andreas Kyriacou. The centre provides specialist assessment and investigation for patients with suspected or established heart rhythm disorders across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.

Dr Kelland’s practice is centred on accurate rhythm diagnosis and targeted treatment. For patients experiencing palpitations, dizziness, fainting or established arrhythmias, he combines specialist electrophysiological assessment with appropriate monitoring, medication, ablation or device therapy, aiming to reduce symptoms and restore confidence in everyday activity.
