Dr Michael Wood

Dr Michael Wood is a leading Consultant Respiratory Physician in the UK. He is currently Consultant at Ashford and St. Peter's NHS Foundation Trust, and is Medical Director for CHS Surrey, a non-profit NHS community healthcare provider aiming to help people live healthier lives in their communities. He practises privately with BMI Healthcare.

He is a skilled bronchoscopist and introduced a pioneering and less invasive endobronchial ultrasound to his NHS unit which has received honourable recognition. His knowledge spans across asthma, COPD, Lung cancer, sleep apnoea and other respiratory disorders, and he prides himself in offering an in-depth consultation and a holistic approach to treatments. He is heavily involved in research and is a co-author of the first major evidence-based textbook for adult respiratory medicine. He has a strong interest in medical education and has been the Training Programme Director for Core Medical Training in Kent Surrey and Sussex, and the Deputy Head of the School of Medicine.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of London in 1992 and continued his training in his chosen career, receiving a fellowship from the prestigious Royal College of Physicians in 1996. He completed a PhD in 2005 from University College London Hospital.
