Dr Mathis Heydtmann is a Consultant Hepatologist. Mathis sees liver patients only and does not see patients with general gastrointestinal problems.
He specialises in the assessment and management of all liver conditions including jaundice, abnormal liver tests and assessment of local changes on liver imaging.

He has good links with other specialists who might need to be involved in patients care including Surgeons, Dieticians, Addiction Specialists and general Gastroenterologists.

Mathis maintains a keen interest in academic medicine by advancing medical knowledge in his field and teaching.
He is specialty advisor to the Scottish Chief Medial Officer for liver and specialty advisor to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman. He is also a committee member of the Policy Public Health and Advocacy committee of the European Association on the Study of the Liver (EASL).
