Mathis Heydtmann is a Consultant Hepatologist. Mathis specialises in the assessment and management of liver conditions including jaundice, abnormal liver tests and assessment of local changes on liver imaging.

He feels that it is important to have sufficient time to listen to the patients concerns and to make a correct diagnosis. Therefore new appointments with him are booked for 40 minutes (if you need more time please inform the booking staff). He has good links with other specialists who might need to be involved in patients care including Surgeons, Dieticians, Addiction Specialists and general Gastroenterologists.

Mathis is an advanced appraiser for revalidation by the GMC, and appraiser trainer for NHS Ediucation Scotland.

Mathis maintains a keen interest in academic medicine by advancing medical knowledge in his field and teaching.

He is trained in quality improvement methodology (he completed the competitive Scottish Quality and Safety Fellowship in 2018) and is parto of the group writing the UK (Public Health England) guidelines on management of people with alcohol problems.
