About Dr Des De Silva

Dr Des De Silva studied medicine at Imperial College School of Medicine, London where he won several prizes. He completed gastroenterology training at Southampton University Hospital as a specialist registrar before conducting 3 years research in clinical nutrition and inflammatory bowel disease at the University of Southampton.

Dr De Silva was appointed to the Royal Berkshire Hospital as a consultant Gastroenterologist in June 2009. He is 1 of 2 accredited bowel cancer screening programme colonoscopists in West Berkshire. He is currently the training programme director for gastroenterology for the Oxford Deanery and chairs an RCP working party on clinically assisted feeding.He is married to a local GP and has 3 young children.
