Dr Deepak Suri

Dr. Deepak Suri is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Whittington Hospital and Consultant Hepatologist at University College Hospital. He looks after patients with abdominal pain, indigestion, heartburn, bowel symptoms, and bleeding. He undertakes endoscopy and colonoscopy. He is also a Consultant Hepatologist advising regarding the cause significance and future management of abnormal liver tests.

Having graduated from University College London in 1992, Dr Suri trained in general medicine and gastroenterology in several London hospitals including St George's, Guys, The Middlesex and Royal Free Hospitals. However, he undertook a period of concentrated hepatology research, writing his MD thesis on viral hepatitis at UCL. He completed his clinical liver and GI training at the Royal Free Liver Unit. With the close associations between hepatology and gastroenterology, Dr Suri's broad training has allowed him to gain a more rounded appreciation and understanding of a patient's presenting complaint.

At the Whittington Hospital he is the Clinical lead for GI. Dr Suri is a fully accredited endoscopist undertaking diagnostic and therapetuic endoscopy procedures such as endoscopy of the upper digestive tract, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy including polyp removal. He regularly audits his practice and has excellent outcomes, and patient satisfaction particulalrly regarding the comfort during during such tests.

Dr Suri strongly believes in holistic and an individualised approach to a patient's care. He understands that often natural and complementary methods and treatments for symptoms can be very helpful as part of a complete management plan. Hence he is willing to discuss these potential avenues with patients, which underlines his focus to provide patient-centred care.
