Dr David Patch

Dr David Patch is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist in the Department of Hepatology and Liver Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital, London, where he works since 1993. He specialises in general internal medicine and gastroenterology with sub-specialisation in hepatology. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in hepatology and has been a Secretary of British Association for the Study of Liver disease (BASL).

Dr Patch sees patients with all aspects of liver conditions. His area of expertise includes the management of patients with liver transplantation, portal hypertension and complications of chronic liver disease. Dr Patch performs upper and lower endoscopies, gastric variceal banding/gastric variceal glueing and radiological procedures such as trans-jugular liver biopsies, hepatic wedge pressure measurements and TIPS procedures.

Dr Patch is actively involved in research and has published and lectured on variceal bleeding and complications of portal hypertension nationally and internationally.
