About Dr Sukh Chatu

Dr Sukh Chatu, Consultant Gastroenterologist, currently works in the King's College Hospital. He is highly specialised in all matters of gastroenterology, hepatology, and general medicine.

Dr Chatu began his medical education at St Bartholomew's and Royal London Medical School where he qualified in 2000. He then went on to undergo a 5-year specialist training programme on Gastroenterology & General Medicine within the London Deanery, gaining experience from numerous prestigious London hospitals. During his training, he was also able to gain experience abroad by undergoing a year-long course in Australia. Upon coming back to the UK he undertook a research degree, resulting in him being awarded an MD for his efforts.

Dr Chatu has remained an active researcher with numerous peer-reviewed publications and a highly successful textbook. He currently holds the position of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at King's College London, and most recently he was awarded a Medical Research Council grant. His research resulted in him being invited to parliament to discuss how to manage gastrointestinal cancer; a hugely prestigious moment for him. He is currently a member of several organisations including the British Society of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, British Medical Association, and The Royal College of Physicians. He is dual-accredited in both general medicine and is an advanced life support instructor, and aims to operate under a holistic approach.

Dr Chatu is one of the most, understanding, kind, professional and knowledgeable consultants I’ve ever seen. He goes over and above to help. His secretary Tracey is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. She has again gone over and above so many time to help me quickly and efficiently asap when I’ve been in need. I can’t thank the both enough or recommend this duo highly enough

Dr Chatu has been exceptional and helped me to have confidence in myself again. I came to him worried and scared about what was going on and feeling like there was no way out. Dr Chatu was calm, helpful, reassuring and explained everything in simple laymans terms to ensure I was happy and understood what was going on. His treatment and investigation was thorough and helped to uncover other problems that he has put me in touch with the right people for the best care.

Dr Chatu was able to reassure me that my recent prolonged bout of reflux hadn't damaged me and that I could manage it with an increased dose of medication. Also I needed to lose the weight I had recently gained.

Given the scare that a potential cancer diagnosis presents. Dr. Chatu was a calm and personable consultant, explaining the procedure, efficient in providing the necessary medication and making the procedure stressless. The last consultation was positive and clear. I really appreciate Dr. Chatu. Thank you.
